Growing up in the heart of Canton City, Winnie was able to see the transformation of the skyline of one of the three largest cities in China. She was born and raised in a family with a strong construction background. Both her grandfather and father worked on large civic, aviation, and transportation projects. Before she even realized it, she had chosen a path in civil engineering and transportation planning. During her undergraduate study in University of California, Irvine, she worked closely with the City of Anaheim and City of Irvine in several urban planning and transportation projects including a bicycle master plan and "vehicle to intelligence" infrastructure communication testing and analysis.
Winnie has not stopped in finding her interests in her surroundings. She continued her studies in Interior Design in San Francisco, which led her to her current architectural career. With her previous background in civil engineering and transportation planning, she can understand and connect the city infrastructure at a large scale and find the balance between aesthetics and practicality. With her Interior Design experience, she can understand the smaller scale value of color, materiality, light and texture in creating interior environments.
Winnie has worked on several tenant improvement projects as well as multi-family rehabilitation projects with other team members at Saida + Sullivan Design Partners. She is always striving to meet the client's needs and wants as well as to take responsibility in improving the end users' living environment. Winnie understands the importance in sustainable design and construction and she has volunteered in many community outreach efforts to express the need for building a sustainable society.
